Comeback Kid
Biography
Originally from Winnipeg, Canada, Comeback Kid, a modern hardcore/old school melodic band, was born in 2002, from the meeting of Scott Wade (chant) and Andrew Neufeld. The latter, then singer of Figure Four , a promising metalcore band, already author of an album, was particularly motivated, not only by the fact of being able to evolve in another musical style, but above all to become a guitarist. The two competitors surround themselves with drummer Kyle Profeta, bassist Cliff Heide and guitarist Jeremy Hiebert, another member of Figure Four. They start composing and give a few concerts when the Fig Four tours allow them. After these few performances and writing for six months, Comeback Kid recorded a demo of six tracks that will make him known worldwide. A tour of North America followed, which established its nascent reputation through explosive and intense concerts, relayed by the positive message it conveyed. In March 2003, Comeback Kid released his first album Turn it Around at Facedown Records ( No Innocent Victim , Looking Forward ). Recorded in Winnipeg, it is produced by John Paul Peters. Shortly afterwards Cliff Heide left the band and was replaced by Kevin Call, a former member of Minneapolis' The Good Fight. Comeback Kid shoots in Canada, the U.S.A. and Europe with bands like Terror, Throwdown, Every Time I Die or Stretch Arm Strong. He also participates in major festivals such as the Hell Fest or the Posi Numbers. Apparently mistakenly considered a Christian rock band in view of its relationship with Figure Four and Facedown Records, Comeback Kid signed in 2004 with Victory, and the second album, Wake the Dead , was released in 2005. Recorded in the Blasting Room, it is produced by Bill Stevenson (ex drummer of Black Flag, All, Descendants and currently of Only Crime) and Jason Livermore (The Casualties). This album confirms Comeback Kid as one of the most inspired hardcore bands of the moment. Against all odds, Scott Wade, tired of the tours, announced his departure in March 2006. Comeback Kid's last concert with its dedicated singer takes place on June 15 of the same year in Winnipeg. From then on, the song was performed by Andrew Neufeld and Casey Hjelmberg (A False Notion , Regret , Brucial ) and became acting guitarist at the concerts. Comeback Kid will then shoot with such prestigious bands as Gorilla Biscuits, Bad Religion or Dropkick Murphys. With four members, the band recorded its third album, Broadcasting , at the Blasting Room, led by Stevenson/Livermore. He was released in February 2007 at Victory Records. Casey Hjelmberg became an official guitarist, Comeback Kid, now quintet again, made an Australian tour with Sick Of It All and then a European tour with This Is Hell, Cancer Bats, Parkway Drive and Warriors. In November 2007, bass player Kevin Call left the formation, he was replaced by Matt Keil (Regret , Lawtalker , Arms Aloft , Silvering ). For two years (2008-2009), Comeback Kid will focus solely on concerts, playing all over the world (Japan, South America, Southeast Asia, Europe) with such bands as Crime In Stereo, Cancer Bats, Propagandhi, Bane, Misery Signal, Shai Hulud, Grave Maker, Outbreak, Verse, Carpathian, Defeater, Dead Swans or Mother Of Mercy. A cd/dvd titled Through The Noise was released in October 2008 via Victory Records and Smallman Records. In early 2010 the tours continued in Australia as well as in North America with Set Your Goals and The Wonder Years. In April Comeback Kid signed with Distort Entertainment and the fourth Canadian album, Symptoms + Cures , produced by Eric Ratz ( Cancer Bats ) was released in late August. Untiring, the band went back on tour with Madball , A Wilhelm Scream , Living With Lions , Devil In Me then returned to Europe with Parkway Drive , Bleeding Through , Emmure , War From A Harlots Mouth , Your Demise before locking up in the studio for Die Knowing , which debunked in March 2014 in the bins.
