Comets On Fire

Comets On Fire made its debut in 1999 thanks to Ethan Miller (chant) and Ben Flashman (bass) quickly joined by Utrillo Kushner (battery) and Noel von Harmonson. The group's goal is to play music that is mainly rhythm-oriented and without a stylistic barrier. In 2001 the first application of their will was born with an eponymous album released by Alternative Tentacles (Jello Biaffra , Jarboe , Brujeria , Akimbo , Jucifer , ...), the result is a garage rock strongly tinted with psyche. The band began to make a name among the many American jam bands. In 2002 the band returned with Field Recordings from the Sun released by Ba Da Bing (Six Organs of Admittance , Beirut , The Dead C. , ...), for this recording the band surrounds itself with a crowd of guests who came to play different instruments, pushing the band into more punk or more psyched sounds the strongly tinted 70s ( Hawkwind , MC5). Among these guests, Ben Chasny (from Six Organs Of Admittance) officially became a member of the band as second guitarist, the band took a more psyched rock turn and became a little more accessible.
