Converge
Biography
Converge formed in Boston in 1991. We will tend to classify the group as punk/hardcore, but it will in fact develop a new genre that will later be called chaotic hardcore. which will also influence the Screamo movement. A mixture of hardcore and Punk old school that will lead to a style that is both brutal, crushed, swift and unhealthy but not devoid of emotion. The quintet (which later became quartet) released a first demo that year. Follow Halo In A Haystack at Earthmaker and especially Caring And Killing at Hydra Head Records. Converge draws the attention of EqualVision Records which will release Petitioning The Empty Sky in 1997 (reissued in 2005). A year later came When Forever Comes Crashing followed by two splits with Agoraphobic Nosebleed and Hellchild. The album of the Jane Doe consecration propel them to the top of the Hardcore spheres in 2001, while the following object (Unloved And Weeded Out ) will be published by Deathwish (label co-founded by Bannon) in 2003, containing some rarity&b-sides. The first Bostonian DVD (The Long Road Home) was released in July 2004, a few months after their surprising signature was announced on Epitaph Records. You Fail Me was laid in the same year, illustrating a new creative approach, more sickly and tortured. No Heroes clutches two years later, still offering a different orientation by including more elements Metal. Jonah Jenkins ( Miltown, Milligram) will also make his voice contribution on Grim Heart/Black Rose. At a pace always fairly regular and productive, Converge returned in 2009 with Axe To Fall , confirming the orientation taken on the previous record, adding some guests ( Cave In , Genghis Tron , Steve Von Till ). In 2011, a split will appear with Dropdead, which features a bonus title from the next long format, Runaway. 2012 saw another split with Napalm Death , and in particular All We Love We Leave Behind , eighth studio album of an essential formation, new summit of mastery and emotion. After having shot more than reason, including playing Jane Doe's entire Roadburn, Converge published a second, consisting of DVD live (Thousands of Miles Between Us) and focused on writing new titles. This will lead to The Dusk In Us in 2017. Jacob Bannon (Chant) Nate Newton (Basse) Kurt Ballou (Guitare) Ben Koller (Battery)
