Biography

Count Raven is one of these Doom Metal giants signed on the legendary Hellhound Records label, which is considered by many to be one of the best foals in the stable catalogue. Their story began in 1987 when Christian Linderson (Chant), Dan Fondelius (Guitare), Tommy Erikkson (Basse) and Christer Pettersson (Battery) together formed a group called Stormvarning. After two demos and a signature at Hellhound Records, the band became Count Raven released its first album, Storm Warning in 1990. Critics are dithyrambic, but that doesn't stop Linderson from joining Saint Vitus to record the album Children Of Doom. Count Raven continues as a trio and Dan Fondelius sings on Destruction Of The Void , second album which was released in 1992. It is from that moment that the band continues to be compared to Black Sabbath because Dan Fondelius's song is very similar to that of Ozzy Osbourne. The troupe released two more albums, High On Infinity in 1994 and Messiah Of Confusion in 1996, still via Hellbound Records before throwing a sponge in 1999 because of too much dissension between Dan Fondelius and the other two musicians. The first founded Doomsday Government , while Tommy Erikkson (Basse) played in Semlah and Christer Pettersson (Battery) stopped his activities as a musician. In 2003, Count Raven announced his return with a tour and perhaps a new album, but after three years and a lot of excitement later, Dan Fondelius fired his former comrades Christer Pettersson (Batterie) and Tommy Eriksson (Basse) and announced that he wanted to continue the adventure with Fredrik Jansson (Basse - Angel Witch) and Jens Bock (Batterie). In this in between, the Cyclone Empire Records label reissues Count Raven's four albums with bonus titles, but also releases Mammons War in 2009 and Ván Records which allows the band to get back on the front of the stage, followed by a split with Griftegård the following year. Fredrik Jansson was replaced on bass by Tommy Eriksson who returned to the band between 2011 and 2016 and Samuel Cornelsen actually took his place in 2016. Count Raven comes out, in good shape, after so many years of galleys, The Sixth Storm via, again, the label I Hate Records.
