Crumbsuckers is the very archetype of these bands that left traces on the hardcore new Yorka scene but did not occupy it for a long time. Originally from Baldwin (NY-Long Island), the band formed around Gary Meskil in 1982. The latter surrounds Kevin Carrol on drums, Dave Brady on songs and Dave Wynn on guitar. At that time the band recorded a first demo.
A year later, Crumbsuckers recruited a second guitarist, Chuck Lenihan, and replaced his drummer with Dan Richardson. In 1984, a demo was recorded at CBGB's, but personal problems forced Dan Brady to abandon the game in 1985. Crumbsuckers then appealed to Chris Notaro then singer of Krakdown. With the help of Connie Barrett, also manager of Agnostic Front and Carnivore, the Long Island group signed a first contract with Combat Records.
From this first deal, the album Life of Dreams will be released in 1986 and produced by Normann Dunn. Unfortunately, the problems of line up start again a year later with Dave Wynn leaving. Matt Cardin was in the interim for a few months and then left his place to Robert Koebler who participated in the recording of Beast on my Back in 1988 which proved to be a musical failure. As a result, the group has become more and more difficult to survive. Koebler was replaced by Mark Piovanelli ( Carnivore ) and Notaro slammed the door for Joe Haggerty ( Zero Hour ) who sang during the 1988 European tour.
The Crumbsuckers broke out in 1989 after a desperate attempt to convert under the surname of Heavy Rain. Chuck Lenihan joined the Genitorturers while Haggerty joined Knucklehead. For their part, Meskil and Richardson will experience better days at Pro-Pain . A little later, we find Richardson on Life Of Agony's Soul Searching Sun album. In 2003, Meskil will pay tribute to the Crumbsuckers on Pro-Pain's Run For Cover album with a reinterpretation of "Just Sit There", an introductory song by Life Of Dreams.
In 2006, the Crumbsuckers reworked at a show meeting in New York on August 3. The new-Yorkais band decided to continue the adventure almost under its original formation - only Dave Wynn, replaced by Tom Klimchuk misses the call - by organising a European tour which should go through France by 2007.
