Cryptic Tales
Biography
Cryptic Tales comes from Poland and was founded in 1989 by Piotr Kopko (Guitare/Chant) and Jaroslaw Maciuszek on drums. Dariusz Gibalewicz and Witold Zawdzki joined them in guitar and bass respectively. After two years of rehearsals and then playing in a Doom / Death register, the band released in 1991 its first demo cassette: The Sign Of The Southern Cross rather appreciated in the underground Polish milieu. Two years later, Cryptic Tales recorded his first album, still on tape, by Carnage Rec., entitled Anathema (a priori unrelated to the British band) and began to have a certain reputation which allowed them to perform in concert alongside other bands of the Polish Metal scene. Valley Of The Dolls will be released in 1994 (republished in 2009 in cd format) and The Tales in 1996. Meanwhile, Witold Zawadzki left the band in 1994 and was replaced by Mateusz Bernardyn. Dariusz Gibalewicz also left in 1997, successively replaced by Maciej Motyka and Jacek Fall, who had held the position of guitarist. After a break of several years, Cryptic Tales finally chose to reappear with VII Dogmata Of Mercy , produced by Empire Records in 2008. Having abandoned its roots Doom, the band has recruited Bartlomiej Filipinski since 2007 as a keyboardist and now distills a Black Metal Symphony musically close to Dimmu Borgir.
