Biography

Cryptopsy is a Quebec group formed in 1992 on the ashes of Necrosis. From his debut album Blasphemy Made Flesh, he stands out for his enormous brutality, his very high technical level (including drummer Flo Mounier, a mastery and endurance monster). After many problems of line-up and label, the band released its legendary album, None So Vile in 1996. This is the first time a band has served such a technical brutal death, incorporating a slapped bass and, above all, an almost inhuman battery. The following year Lord Worm, the singer, left the band to become an English teacher. This changes the music of the band, which becomes less unhealthy. After the arrival of Mike DiSalvo to replace Lord Worm, the band released Whisper Supremacy in 1998. The record has worldwide distribution thanks to a signature at Century Media. Light jazzy plans and the hardcore voice of DiSalvo distinguish this album from the previous two. Whisper Supremacy also became Cryptopsy's first commercial success, the first Quebec band since Vojvod to make a place on the world stage. In 2000 And Then You'll Beg , new album that sees the arrival of a new guitarist, Alex Auburn. Mike DiSalvo left the band after the American tour, quickly replaced by Martin Lacroix (formerly Spasme). The latter appeared on live album None So Live , released in 2003. The same year, Lord Worm, an original singer, returned to the band for the greatest happiness of fans. In mid-2004, Jon Levasseur, guitarist and principal composer of the band, began to miss concerts. He will be temporarily replaced by Miguel Roy (guitarist on the tour None So Vile) and Daniel Mongrain ( Martyr , ex-Gorguts ). It is even the latter that appears on the band's live DVD! In early 2005, Jon left the band, losing his interest in extreme metal. The band still releases its new album, Once Was Not , where guitar parts are all recorded by Alex Auburn, a strange album that completely breaks with the band's past...
