Cursive
Biography
Coming from Omaha, in the Nebraska (United States), Cursive began his turbulent adventure in 1995 with the reunion of three friends, Tim Kasher on singing/guitar, Clint Schnase on drums and Matt Maginn on bass. The band released its first album, Such Blinding Lights for Starving Eyes in 1997. After a series of splits and 10", the combo is signed by Saddle Creek (which also includes Bright Eyes , The Faint and Two Gallants ), which publishes The Storms of Early Summer: Semantics of Song, the first "real" album labeled Tim Kasher who develops his lyrical style and poses his universe built on human misfortunes. An essay that quickly turns short as the Americans separate without even turning to promote it.
It was only in 2000 that Cursive reformed himself and gave birth, in pain, to Domestica in the same year, before turning alongside At The Drive-In. If the rhythmic is removed, the compositions are nervous, hasty, forming an indie rock leading to the painful experience of the frontman. Three years later Cursive released his masterpiece, The Ugly Organ, which saw Gretta Cohn's participation in the violin. A conceptual, theatrical and ironic album, The Ugly Organ condenses all the band's know-how and the color of an almost cult aura with the public.
Cheating the violin against the brass, Cursive continues his exploration of genres and themes on Happy Hollow (2006) and Mama, I'm Swollen (2009).
Tim Kasher also plays in a side-project, The Good Life ( MySpace ), which gives in a more posed genre, more pop-rock.
