Dälek
Biography
Dälek is a very strange MC on horseback between several scenes of alternative music. Having tasted hip-hop culture since its origins in the 1980s, Energgen meets in the middle of the 90s the one who will become his dedicated partner regarding all his productions, namely Oktopus. Dälek then becomes a full-fledged duo-based training course that will welcome many characters and take part in multiple and varied collaborations.
Practicing a dirty, unhealthy and misanthropist hip-hop, using without respite sound masses borrowed from the indus trial and noise scenes, Dälek stands well apart from the whole scene from which he originates, including labels like Anticon who have always claimed within hip-hop a certain marginality. It is this unique aspect that is worth the duo a signature after only an official album by Mike Patton, labeled by Ipecac, well used to singular and innovative projects, a large contributor to the fall of inter stylistic barriers.
After a collaboration with Justin Broadrick's Techno Animal (Jesu , Godflesh , Napalm Death , etc.), which could easily be brought together the American duo, From filthy tone of gods and griots , the second official album of the band lays the foundations of the band's sounds, and points out the training thanks to the well-rounded machine that constitutes their label, and of course the quality of their music. Dälek later produced three collaborations with artists as opposed as surprising in this kind of role, namely Kid 606 , Faust and Velma . The unlikely rapprochements will continue, after the third album of the band, Absence (2005), which will make widely known the formation of the independent rock community with an attractive tour in the company of Isis and Jesu. Absence, on the other hand, is an abyssal, black and violent block, which sits the identity of Dälek in violent and very noisey interlacing. The next album, Abandoned Language (2007) slightly releases the water head for more ambient and organic evolutions. The ensuing tour in Europe is once again out of the ordinary, as it is a collaboration with the Swiss legends of the post-punk, the Young Gods, for a most interesting creation/confrontation that will ecuminate the festivals of summer 2007. After founding its own Deadverse Recordings label, MC dälek starts with Oktopus in the composition of Gutter Tactics , which will be published in 2009 by Ipecac. This resulted in the release in 2010 of an LP with no limited edition title at Latitudes, and a six-year hiatus after Oktopus' departure. A long pause finally interrupted during 2015 by the recomposition of the Dälek formation, this time with DJ reK and Mike Manteca, to prepare the release of a sixth long format in 2016, Asphalt For Eden, hosted by Profound Lore Records. About a year later, a new album, Endangered Philosophy , was released back at Ipecac Recordings.
