Victoria Scalisi - singing Phillip Cope - guitar Christian Depken - drums Brian Duke - bass
Victoria Scalisi met Phillip Cope in 1992 in Savannah (GA). After two years in an obscure local group, the two larrons decided to fly with their own wings and founded Damad with Chris Parry (battery) and Peter Bowers (bass). Under this formation, the combo recorded a first 7 inches, Dam Ol' Flag, followed, a year later, by a split with In/Humanity, South Carolina hardcore group crossed on the Unforseen Disasters compilation. In 1996, Damad recorded a significant line-up change with the arrival of drummer Scott Cooper (ex-Antischism) and Brian Duke instead of Parry and Bowers. The first essays take place on the compilation A Tradition of... but for the recording of the first full length, scheduled the same year, Scalisi and Cope prefer to recruit an additional guitarist, Mark Marcus. For a little while. Rise & Fall barely in the bins, the latter is replaced by Robert Abernathy who officiates on the 7 inch Rewind/Manmade . The agreement lasted until 1997 and, after two appearances on compilations and Marcus' flashback, Damad finally became a quartet in 1998. Marcus was not replaced and Cooper gave his place to Christian Depken for the recording of Burning Cold, second and last Georgian album. Damad recorded a split in 2000 with Meatjack but split in 2001, Scalisi joining Cooper in Karst while Depken, Duke and Cope joined together to found Kylesa.
