Dark Funeral
Biography
Dark Funeral was created in 1993 by guitarists Lord Ahriman and Blackmoon in Stockholm, Sweden, and soon joined by drummer Draugen and singer/bassist Themgoroth. Dark Funeral is one of the first bands in the second wave of Black Metal and also one of the first Swedish black metal bands with Marduk. In 1994 released the first production, an eponymous EP that was recorded at the Uni-Sound Studio. This first recording already shows the style of the band, which will be confirmed by the release of their first studio album, The Secrets Of The Black Arts, the band plays there a brutal Black Metal oriented towards antichristianism. The singer/bassist Themgoroth quickly left the band and was replaced by the charismatic Emperor Magus Caligula. In 1998 the second studio album, Vobiscum Satanas , recorded at the Abyss Studio, was released, allowing the band to take a course in terms of fame. In 2000, Dark Funeral recorded a cover EP, Teach Children to Worship Satan, with covers from Slayer, Mayhem, Sodom and King Diamond bands, plus a title that will appear in their next studio album, Diabolis Interium. The following year, the band released its third studio album, Diabolis Interium , this album is quite badly received by fans of the first hour, in fact the quality of the recording is much better than on their previous two opus, making it much more accessible to listen. However, thanks to these characteristics, Dark Funeral has found itself a much wider audience. In 2005, the band released its fourth studio album, Attera Totus Sanctus . It can be noted that the title of the album is an error of the Latin translation of "destroying all saints", the correct translation would in fact be "Attera Totum Sanctum" (the big fake). After the release of this album, Dark Funeral released two live DVDs recorded during the tour of the band organized to promote Attera Totus Sanctus. These are the DVD Attera Orbis Terrarum - Part I and Attera Orbis Terrarum - Part II. These two DVDs were released a few months apart, the first in late 2007 and the second in early 2008. In November 2009 Dark Funeral released his fifth studio album, Angelus Exuro pro Eternus , meaning in Latin "Let angels burn for eternity". On July 25, 2010, the band announced that the concert at the Summer Breeze Festival 2010 would be the last concert with Emperor Magus Caligula to sing, which in the end will come back in 2013 to play at the Inferno Festival in Norway and Switzerland. Swedes are currently under contract with the great German label Century Media Records. It took until 2016 to see Dark Funeral back in the bins. Shadows Forever Reign was released in June, the band revealed to us its new vocalist, Heljarmadr (Cursed 13 , Domgård , Grá ), and by running the festivals then embarked on a tour accompanied by the Brazilians of Krisiun .
