Dark Lunacy
Biography
Dark Lunacy is a group of "Dramatic Death Metal" from Parma, Italy. If they define themselves according to this genre which belongs only to them, it is that their music mixes epic atmospheres, regularly derived from Russian culture, with rapid and brutal riffs and a constant search for melody. Founded in 1997 by two musicians known as Mike Lunacy (Chant) and Enomys (Guitare), the band self-produced the ep Silent Storm in 1998 and received a good audience. With the arrival of Baijkal (Batter) and Harpad (Basse), Dark Lunacy is finally a band. In 1999, another ep called Serenity, allows to define what the sound of the band will be. In 2000, the band released its first album Devod at Fuel Records. With the support of the magazines and specialized radios that pass the two singles Dolls and Forlorn , Dark Lunacy ensures a great success. With a new contract for Metal Blade Records, Devod is re-edited and distributed throughout Europe, and then around the world. The band even filmed a video for Dolls. Above all, it imposes a unique style, true crucible of emotions and beauty. One of the characteristics of the group is the use of a string quartet and a three-voice choir composed of 20 members. In December 2001, Harpad was replaced by Imer. With this new line-up, Dark Lunacy records a split with Infernal Poetry, including Defaced and Die To Reborn titles, as well as Dolls' video clip. Then in June 2003 released the band's second album, Forget Me Not , a new demonstration of style full of power, melody and deep nostalgia. We must wait until 2006 for the release of The Diarist , third album imbued with Russian culture, but also by World War II. Unfortunately, Baijkal and Imer left the group shortly afterwards for personal reasons. Dark Lunacy then recruited Mary Ann (Basse) and Matia Pescatori (Battery) to replace them a while before they finally returned to the band in 2007. Mary Ann became the fifth musician and second guitarist to perform, but Dark Lunacy recorded nothing for several years. Finally, the departures of Mary Ann, Baijkal and Imer were final in 2010, followed also by Enomys. Mike Luncay remains the only founding member and recruits four new musicians to follow Dark Lunacy. Alessandro Vagnoni (Battery), Andy Marchini (Basse), Claudio Cinquegrana (Guitare) and Daniele Galassi (Guitare) recorded Weaver Of Forgotten in 2010 which received modest criticism. Two years later, Jacopo Rossi replaced Andy and Claudio left the band in 2013. In 2014, Dark Lunacy returned with a fifth opus named The Day Of Victory.
