Biography

Dark Moor formed in 1993 in Madrid. Their first album Shadowland was recorded in the summer of 1999 and in the wake of that, the combo played first part of Demons&Wizards' tour of Spain. The members of Dark Moor began recording sessions of the second album The Hall Of The Olden Dreams in August 2000 at the New Sin studio with Luigi Stefanini as producer. During these sessions, the band recorded its Halloween version, which can be found in the album tribute to the band Helloween: The Keepers Of Jericho - A Tribute To Helloween (Arise Records). A Maxi-Single The Fall of Melnibone released in June 2001, limited to 1500 copies for the Spanish market. Dark Moor began recording their third album, The Gates Of Oblivion , in autumn 2001 at the New Sin studios and signed with Major J.V.C. for distribution in Asia. The band will play 18 times in festivals like Rock Machina, Viña Rock and Nit De Reis. After the first part of the tour, pianist Roberto Peña left the band and he was forced to finish the tour with an extra musician. In August 2002 Dark Moor recorded four new exclusive acoustic songs (accompanied by a string quartet), included in the album Between Light and Darkness, released in April 2003. Due to differences of opinion regarding the musical direction of the next album, singer Elisa Martin, guitarist Albert Maroto and drummer Jorge Sáez decided to leave Dark Moor to create a new band. The two remaining members of the band decided to go looking for new musicians. After an audition, they accept singer Alfred Romero, guitarist Jose Garrido, and drummer Andy C.. In August 2003, the band began recording their fourth album, entitled Dark Moor , at the New Sin studios in Italy. After a month of sessions, the album was mastered by Mika Jussila in Finnvox. In the summer of 2006, the band recorded its sixth album Tarot at the New Sin Studio again. On this occasion they collaborate with Luigi Stefanini ( Rhapsody (of Fire), Labyrinth, Divine Vision) and also sign with a new label, Scarlet Records. On November 23, 2006, the band announced the departure of their drummer on their official website, because of "incompatibility with its other musical projects". His replacement, Roberto Cappa, was previously part of the Spanish heavy metal band Anima Sola. The sixth album was released on 21 February 2007 in Europe and America, preceded by a video for The Chariot . In July, the band toured South America (his first on this continent) and Europe (Spain, France). The album received very good reviews: "album of the month" by Metal Hammer (Spain), Powerplay (UK), Metalreviews (USA), Heavyowl (Germany), Heavylaw (France). A second clip is then recorded for Wheel of Fortune. In 2008, the band returned to the New Sin Studio to record Automnal, with Luigi Stefanini again. Bassist Dani Fernández decides at the end of the year to leave the group, and Mario García replaces him. A video is recorded for On the Hills of Dreams, and the seventh album is available in Europe in February 2009. He is well received in Europe, and the band plays some concerts in Europe (Spain, France, Russia, Portugal, Czech Republic) between March and October of the same year. In August 2010, Dark Moor returned to New Sin Studio to record his eighth album, Ancestral Romance . The album was released on November 24, 2010.
