Dartz
Biography
William K.J. Anderson: singing, bass Henry J. Carden: guitar Philip J. Maughan: drums
January '05, Dartz! (originally Darts!) is formed in Middlesbrough, England. The group of Phil (Stories and Comets) has just separated, preceded by Henry (The New Lev Yashin ). So they exchange their instruments and immediately begin to compose when their friend Will (ex- Just About Done) proposes to fold the double role song / bass. A bounty that they seize, the rehearsals go on and in May they already have a demo 4 tracks to offer to the public. The first 100 copies are very quickly exhausted, the second press of 100 shows the new name, with the "z"; He will have the same fate as the first. Enthusiastic about this success, both musical and commercial, the small label Fake Dreams signs them for an EP, Who Build the Buildings? which is published in October '05 to 200 copies which are sold even before the release of the disc.
In the meantime, the inde label (this time of consistent size) Xtra Mile Recordings ( Jonah Matranga , Frank Turner ...) offers them a contract and the success of the trio is definitely on the way. The road is also about it, in the United Kingdom with The Research , Hot Club of Paris and their friends from Stapleton with whom they released a split 10" 4 tracks in April '06. The band is noted for media such as NME and Drowned in Sound, Xtra Mile multiplies the singles announcing the first album, This Is My Ship, which will finally be released in February 2007. In May the famous Deep Elm label announces that it will release TIMS in the United States and Japan within the year. The time to play in a few festivals and to shoot with their friends of This Is A Cub Scout and Deep Elm released its version of the album (with a new artwork) in October.
The month of December will see them shooting with Secondsmile and This Town Needs Guns and will also be an opportunity to record the first fruits of an EP they announce for spring '08. In March they began their first European tour through France, Germany and the United Kingdom. They also unveil "The End Moving On", the first compo of the previously announced EP The Sad History of the Village of Alnerique.
