Dashboard Confessional
Biography
Guitarist of The Agency , singer/leader of the Vacant Andys then Further Seems Forever , Christopher Ender Carrabba left the band in 2001 after writing a number of acoustic songs for years, songs that his entourage encouraged him to record... His first EP solo, Drowning, was released on the indie label Fiddler Records in '98 and was followed by Swiss Army Romance while Chris Carrabba was still in FSF. After a few tours (very often in the first part of hardcore bands), the record has some success since Drive Thru Records and then Vagrant are interested. The first album of Dashboard Confessional post-FSF is released shortly after Chris' separation with the band Tooth & Nail and his signature on Vagrant. The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most starts not too bad in the charts but it is the following year that the consecration will arrive (the album is today a golden record, thanks to MTV which regularly broadcasts the clip of "Screaming Infidelities", and to the tour of the band in first part of Weezer). Also in '01, the band expanded and Chris energized with him friends (from The Agency , Vacant Andys or Seville ) who eventually became full members. The next 2 EPs (the first for Vagrant, the second for Eulogy) present 4 new songs and 4 "electric" covers of some of his old acoustic tracks respectively. The support of the MTV channel is more present than ever since it is asked to record a private concert that will become a live CD + DVD, in the bins in December '02.
Dashboard Confessional was approached by many majors, but still (temporarily?) remained on Vagrant and gave birth to his 3rd LP in August '03: A Mark * A Mission * A Brand * A Scar who marks a turn in the band's career as he presents the first newly composed songs with the complete band (and with the new guitarist/pianist Johnny Lefler). Supported by the media and the American rock press, DC further increased its popularity in 2004 by being present on the Original Band of the movie Spiderman 2 with the title "Vindicaded". The songwritter, however, will wait three years to release his new Dusk and Summer effort, which will be a huge success on American territory as soon as it is released. Today, DC is blessed with a large media showcase overseas Atlantic and with a wide reputation that is only growing (concert at Madison Square Garden, broadcast on prime radios, to the credits of an American websitecom...). Finally, back to his first love in 2007 with the release of his fifth effort: The Shade Of Poison Trees .
