
David Allan Coe
Biography
David Allan Coe has been giving in Country (Outlaw Country more accurately) for nearly 40 years. These influences ranging from Country Old Time to Southern Rock to Blues, DAC is known to be L-Uvni, the offbeat badboy (it's in prison that he vainly wants to make music) from Country music. He gained a certain reputation in the late 1970s and 1980s (including one of his biggest "tubes" Willie, Waylon and Me). In 1978 and 1982, they released Nothing Sacred and Underground, albums that are so vulgar (there's only one to listen to Cum Stains On The Pillow , Whips And Things , Fuckin In The Butt (title taken 20 years later by Macabre's grind-cores ) to report), racist (Nigger Fucker ...) and misogynes. These 2 albums, after making a lot of ‘noise', were banned for sale (but, despite everything, remained available on the stands of the DAC concerts). Coe has written and played more than 280 songs throughout her career. Also (but above all) author, these best ‘works' are Would You Lay with Me (in a Field of Stone) recorded by Tanya Tucker (title number 1 of the American charts for a while), and Take this Job and Shove It recorded by Johnny Paycheck (resumed at a much faster tempo by the Dead Kennedys). He also wrote for George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Johnny Cash, Leon Russell, Charlie Louvin, Del Reeve, Melba Montgomery, Stoney Edwards, The Oakridge Boys, Elvis Presley, as well as rappers like Kid Rock, Uncle Kracker and Canibus. In 2000 there was a meeting with the southerners of Pantera (especially Rex Brown, Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell). When a country monster meets the Rock Monsters, it gives a surprising cocktail. The album Rebel Meets Rebel is released 6 years later although it was recorded in 2004. This album is full of ‘pearls' such as Nothin' To Lose, Arizona Rivers (title that reminds us of the Pantera of the great era), Get Outta My Life or No Compromise. Following the death of Dimebag Darrell, the album will never be released live. Nevertheless, DAC plays some of its titles at its overseas Atlantic concerts in tribute to the latter. At the age of 70, David Allan Coe never stops surprising us..
