Biography

Daylight Dies begins his journey in North Carolina under the leadership of Barre Gambling and Jesse Haff. It's 1996, and it's going to take them three years to produce their first demo, The Long Forgotten Demo. The following year, the duo hired a singer named Guthrie Iddings. Their second demo Idle shows great progress in the composition and sense of the melody. She earned them a bit later a release at Tribunal Records. One after that, Egan O'Rourke became the bassist of the band. On four, daylight Dies composes a promotional demo of 2 titles that will allow them to sign at Relapse Records at the end of 2001. Their first album, No Reply , was released in 2002. The sound of the band is then more focused on the doom and darker atmospheres than before. The album received a good critical welcome and the band toured in 2003 in Europe with Katatonia, and in the USA with Lacuna Coil. Guthrie Iddings was replaced by Nathan Ellis and Charlie Shackelford was hired as second guitarist. In August 2005 Daylight Dies entered the studio to record Dismantling Devotion, his second album. Dismantling Devotion is another decisive step for the group. What is commonly called the album of maturity, where their most obvious influences are magnified by a solid work on compositions, both melodic and melancholic. The band signs this time at Candlelight Records, late 2005. The album was released in 2006 and enjoyed a remarkable critical reception. The band toured in the fall with Moonspell and Katatonia in the United States.
