Biography

Deafheaven formed in 2010 and is native to San Francisco. Derek Prine (Basse), Trevor Deschryver (Battery), Nick Bassett (Guitare), Kerry McCoy (Guitare) and George Clarke (Chant) decide to play a very personal Atmospheric Black-Metal, inspired by Post-Rock and Screamo with bands like Envy, Godspeed You Black Emperor, or Xasthur. The success of the band is immediate because after a demo in 2010, Deafheaven signs at Deathswish for a first ep in 2011, but especially Roads To Judah which makes much talk about them on the web. Far from the standards of Black-Metal and having signed on a Hardcore label, the band rotates alongside bands such as Touché Amoré, Torch Runner, Ken Mode and even Kylesa. In 2012 and 2013 the band underwent a large change in its line-up, which prompted Kerry and George to continue in the form of a duo at least for studio creation. After split with Bosse-De-Nage in 2012, Deafheaven gave an ambitious follow-up to their first album named Sunbather. Again published by Deathwish in 2013, this second album devotes the band to an ever-growing international reputation.
