Death From Above 1979
Biography
Death From Above 1979 formed in Canada in 2000 around only two members: Montreal's Sébastien Grainger (battery/chant) and Toronto's Jesse F. Keeler (bass). The duo foams the scenes of small clubs, but quickly draws attention to him because of the unusual sound of his compositions. Demos will be recorded later, but it's only in 2004 that you're in a woman, a machine and its enigmatic cover. It comes from a trip of the group that said about his approach: "We want to be the elephant in your living room". The album will finally be released in February 2005 at 679/Warner . But after more than two years of tour, the tension between the two colleagues rose to the point of inevitably leading them to split during the summer of 2006 for essentially relational problems. Only Jesse Keeler benefits from an exit, since Josh Homme graciously invited him to participate in the production of the fourth album of the famous Queens Of The Stone Age. Finally reconciled, the two men announced the reformation of the duo in 2011 and released their second album, The Physical World, three years later. After dropping the "1979" of their name, they return in 2017 with Outrage! Is Now.
