Biography

Deathstars is a metal band founded in 2000 in Strömstad, Sweden. Before the formation of Deathstars, Whiplasher (Andreas Berg, Chant), Nightmare Industries (Emil Nödtveidt, Guitar, Keyboard) and Beast X Electric (Erik Halvorsen, Guitar) played in a band of Black / Thrash Metal called Swordmaster. From the meeting between the members of Swordmaster , Opthalamia and Dissection , from which the drummer Bone W Machine (Ole Öhman, battery), was born Deathstars . The band admits to being inspired by bands like Kiss , Marilyn Manson , Rammstein or The Kovenant and to qualify his musical style as "Death-Glam". In 2002 they released their first album Synthetic Generation and wore latex outfits with Gothic imagery. At the base, Skinny Disco (Jonas Kangur, Basse) joined the band mainly on stage, but became a full member in October 2003. That same year, Nuclear Bast Records reissued the album, allowing the band to become a little better known in Europe. In 2005, Deathstars separated from Beast X Electric during the composition of the new album, claiming a lack of enthusiasm for the album. But it was especially during the release of Termination Bliss in 2006 that the band was revealed to the general public, notably by singles Blitzkrieg and Cyanide . Here the group develops a rather military and Soviet imagery. In September 2006, Cat Casino (Eric Bäckman, Guitar) joined the ranks and the Swedishs played first part in Cradle Of Filth and Korn. Deathstars released its third album in 2009 entitled Night Electric Night. It is followed by a compilation of remixes of different tracks of the band, Decade Of Debauchery , which appeared the following year.
