Deicide
Biography
Deicide is the fourth founding band of the American death metal scene (alongside Death, Morbid Angel and Obituary). The group stands out from its peers because of its much more violent image: it deals here with pure satanism, annihilation of Christians, and other equally peaceful subjects... The band's music is also very different, extremely unhealthy (notably thanks to the demonic voices of the leader Glen Benton, doubled black/death in the studio, and traded in the same way as the voices of the demons in the films Evil Dead, we note a reference to this film in the song Dead by Dawn), and especially marked by a satanic atmosphere (alias the evil atmosphere), inherited from Possessed. Deicide's first eponymous album is a burnout of hatred and brutality, combined with the technicality of its members. The group has in the past made more talk about him by his demented with other groups or with animal protection societies (Deicide having taken the habit of throwing pieces of dead animals on his audience), as well as by the actions of his singer Glen Benton (a scarified inverted cross on the forehead, etc.). In 2004, the Hoffman brothers, guitarists, left the band. The reasons given vary, and it is apparently due to Glen Benton's behavior that according to the two brothers' statements "is not a true satanist, he does not believe in his words and even married in a church". They will be replaced by Jack Owen (former Cannibal Corpse) and Dave Suzuki ( Vital Remains). Glen Benton and the Hoffman brothers are currently in legal conflict, each seeking to recover rights in the group name... That doesn't stop Deicide from making his way and recording a new album. Dave Suzuki taking up his position in Vital Remains, so Ralph Santolla (ex- Death and Iced Earth) will hold the six-strings in the band... Thus formed, the band recorded its new album The Stench Of Redemption, a turning point in the band's career. On their launch the men led by Benton continue their journey with the release in 2008 of Till Death Do Us Part, 2011 of To Hell With God and 2013 of In The Minds of Evil. The band will be present for the 2016 Hellfest.
