Denali
Biography
The history of Denali begins in April 2000 in the city of Richmond, Virginia. Maura Davis (guitar/chant/claviers) began to compose a few songs and hastened to make them listen to her brother Keeley (bass/claviers). The latter's enthusiasm for his sister's work led him to row Jonathan Fuller (battery), as well as Cam Di Nuzio, a young local guitarist. They chose the Indian name Denali , with reference to the highest mountain of the American Rockies. It was in 2001 that the band assembled its compositions in a first eponymous album produced by Alan Weatherhead and Marc Linkous, better known for their collaboration with the band Sparklehorse . The Instinct released in 2003 on Jade Tree Records, and received unexpected support. Indeed, Chino Moreno (Deftones ) being conquered by the band of Maura Davis, the latter will simply embark the quartet on the American tour intended to promote their latest album. With success helping, Denali is the subject of every desire for its European distribution. The band chose the Bordeaux label Vicious Circle, which led to the French release of The Instinct in January 2004. But Denali had an early end in spring 2004 with the announcement of the split of the group for artistic divergements. Keeley will then focus on his original group, Engine Down. Maura Davis did not satisfy her insatiable need to compose, however, and will recruit musicians from Chicago to form Bella Lea, renowned Ambulette. It is posthumously that the band gratifies us with a final DVD, Pinnacle , which will be born during 2006.
