Dessa
Biography
Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Dessa began with Spoken Word and Poetry in parallel with his philosophy studies. After graduation, a friend convinced her to join the Minnesota slam group, she eventually attracted MC Yoni's attention with whom, among other things, she formed Medida. The latter helps him forge a hip hop culture and finally presents it to the collective Doomtree (P.O.S. , Cecil Otter , Paper Tiger ...) who will give him a hand for his first EP Fragile Hopes (2005). P.O.S. will take her later on a US tour during which she will open and draw attention. She also contributed to Doomtree's opus in 2005 and wrote poetry and fiction. In January 2010, the collective released its first solo album, A Badly Broken Code, which draws its name from Billy Collins' poem Nostalgia. An opportunity that attracts a growing number of fans as they tour. In 2011, in addition to a professor's position, she took the time to rearrange her titles to play live with a band (Sean McPherson, Dustin Kiel and Joey Van Phillips), from which Castor's studio recording, The Twin (2011), was born. In the meantime, Dessa and her fellow riders took the time to compose a brand new opus that was born in the summer of 2013, Parts of Speech stands out from the past work of the young lady, although her stamp and intonations are always the same, the instrumentation is much colder, in perfect alchemy with the cover that allowed this change to be anticipated.
