Biography

Norwegian group formed in 1993, Dimmu Borgir was originally a group
giving in Atmospheric Black Metal with an ambient trend on
their first two albums, For All Tid (1994) and Stormblast (1996).
Thanks to the recognition they acquire with these first two
albums, they were signed by Nuclear Blast in 1997 for their album Enthrone Darkness Triumphant : Stian Aarstad
The keyboardist is fired from the band for plagiarism (The song Sorgens
Kammer on the album Stormblast deliberately plagiarized by Agony, a game
of Amiga released in 1992)). Radical change, Dimmu Borgir
will now practice Black Metal / Extreme metal with high power of
Fire, especially on Black Spiritual Dimensions (1999) and Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia (2001) albums, sometimes with trend
Heavy / Thrash / Black, sometimes more symphonic ( Death Cult Armageddon ) :
with the clear voice recognizable between a thousand ICS Vortex ( Simen Hestnaes) and Mustis orchestrations. In 2004 Nicholas Barker
(ex - Cradle Of Filth, in the band since 1999) is replaced by Hellhammer (Jan Axel Blomberg) who still worked for Mayhem, Arcturus, Shining ... For the reissue of Stormblast
as well as In Sorte Diaboli . In 10 years, Dimmu Borgir quickly imposed
as one of the world's metal stage leaders, acquiring such a
commercial success they even manage to overwhelm in billboard
American. In 2010, ICS Vortex and Mustis left the
group, which enters the studio with only Shagrath and Silenoz from the original line-up, always accompanied by Galder. It follows Abrahadabra . Then it's silence, except for a few big dates and appearances in the big festivals the news is rare. Shagrath deals with Chrome Division or kills time as it can. We must wait until 2017 to see Dimmu Borgir back with a live, Forces Of The Northern Night, for the occasion Norwegians are accompanied by a philharmonic orchestra. It was in 2018 that Eonian finally appeared, ninth studio album.
