Distress
Biography
Distress is a 10-year-old group from Strasbourg. It was in 1996 that Philippe Miralles and Laurent Haas started the adventure. As early as 1998, Distress recorded his first demo, called Quest Of Elegy. This album already includes almost definitive versions of songs from their first album Close To Heaven , released in 2001. In February 2001, Distress signed a distribution contract with Thundering Records for the release of this first melodic doom death opus. That same year, Eric Lorentz, guitarist in the band Anoma, joined Distress. In June, this is the first concert in Haguenau, alongside Elvaron and Broken Edge. At the end of the year, the drummer of Anoma, Julien Diebold, joined the formation as a bassist. In the summer of 2002, Distress found herself in the premises of the Salle de La Laiterie in Strasbourg to record The Mourning Sign . For the second time it is Didier Houbre who takes over the work of sound engineer. After a few episodes (Julien's departure replaced by Thibault Xhaard, successive reports), the album was released in September 2004. Distress reaffirms its orientation, which is more icy and melancholic than ever. Many concerts followed in the region. In 2007, the band finally appeared with Others , a fantastic doom death album, at the crossroads of acoustic music, prog' and dark metal.
