Biography

Joey "Shithead" Keithley - singing, guitar Floor Tom Jones - drums Dirty Dan Sedan - bass
In 30 years of career, DOA has deserved to enter the Hall of Fame alongside Black Flag, Bad Brains and Minor Threat among others. By its longevity first, but also because Canadians are at the origin of the term that will serve as a label to the most extreme fringe of punk, hardcore.
Founded in 1978 in Vancouver around Joey "Shithead" Keithley (guitar, singing), Chuck Biscuits (battery) and Randy Rampage (bass, singing), DOA releases some eps and singles on its own Sudden Death label, running at the same time throughout North America. Originally influenced by the Ramones , the Sex Pistols and The Clash , the band soon turned to a more radical style with the arrival of Dave Gregg and found a first result on Hardcore 81' . After its release, Rampage and Biscuits left the band, respectively replaced by Dimwit and Wimpy Roy, both former Skulls, Shithead's first band. It was under this training that the classic Let's Wreck the Party was recorded in 1985. DOA splits for the first time in 1991 after the release of Talk Minus Action = 0 . The band reformed with Shithead, Wimpy Roy and Ken Jansen for an ep and two albums. DOA ended the 1990s in turmoil with Jansen's death and Wimpy Roy's departure. Shithead experimented with different bassists and drummers before setting his choice on Baldini. In 2002, Rampage reappeared for the recording of Beat Thrash, but the beautia did not last, since it was replaced by Dan Yaremko. After the Alternative Tentacles episode, Shithead reacts Sudden Death for the release of Win the Battle. Randy Rampage is back in the band. The line up remained stable until 2008 when Baldini was replaced by James Hayden. For his 30th birthday, DOA exits Northern Avenger and embarks on a tour. On the eve of leaving, Rampage was replaced by Yaremko.
Even today, DOA continues to distill its hardcore punk around the world and is about to release its new album, This Machine Kills Fascists.
