Biography

Dragonforce formed in 1999 in London, from the breakup of the Black-Metal Demonac group. The group makes its first weapons under the name Dragonheart, but will not end up changing in 2003 in order to avoid confusion with the homonymous Brazilian group. Combining Sam Totman (Guitare) and Herman Li (Guitare) from Demoniac , then Zp Theart (Chant), Steve Scott (Basse), Steve Williams (Claviers) and Didier Almouzni (Battery) in his first line-up, the London band decided to play an extremely fast Power-Metal, characterized by the systematic presence of soli guitars at very high speed, sound effects reminiscent of video games and lyrics from the heroic fantasy. Awarded for 500,000 downloads on their website, the Sanctuary/Noise Records label is interested in them, which also allows them to make the first part of Stratovarius during their tour in England. With some line-up changes in the meantime, Dragonforce released its first Valley Of The Damned album in 2003. The press is enthusiastic and the band is shooting all over Europe alongside Helloween, Iron Maiden, W.A.S.P., or Angra. Dave Mackintosh was recruited in 2004 as a new drummer, then the combo came out Sonic Firestorm further increasing their speed with titles running around 220 BPM. More and more well known, Dragonforce signed with Roadrunner Records in 2005, allowing them to release Inhuman Rampage the following year in the continuity of previous records. Through The Fire And Flames , appears on Guitar Hero III as the most difficult title of the video game, further increasing the success of the band. The Frenchman Frédéric Leclercq (Heavenly ) has been a bassist since 2006, with Adrian Lambert leaving the group in full recording of Inhuman Rampage . Dragonforce shot in Europe in 2007 with Arch Enemy , Trivium and Machine Head , then returned with a fourth album in 2008 : Ultra Beatdown , pushing their game speed ever further. The album is supported by a great tour across several countries of the world and major European festivals such as Download, Graspop or Wacken. In 2010, ZP Theart left Dragonforce for musical divergence, but the band released its first live album Twilight Dementia. A new singer was found in 2011 in the person of Marc Hudson, allowing the combo to compose for a new album, The Power Within , which appeared in 2012. It is intended to be a return to the sources, without focusing solely on the technique of its musicians.
