Drowning Pool
Biography
Drowning Pool is one of the references of the Neo metal scene of the 2000s, having participated just like Korn or Ill NiƱo to the iconic Ozzfest. Group of the very late Dave Williams, they are mainly associated with their famous tube Bodies . The story began in 1996 in Dallas, Texas, C.J. Pierce (guitarist) and Mike Luce (beater) accompanied by their acolyte Stevie Benton (bassist) are looking for a charismatic leader they find in Dave Williams' person. They derive their name from Stuart Rosenberg's film translated by "La Toile d'Espider" in French. After two demos considered very promising they recorded Sinner in 2001, album which will reveal them to the general public. While they are in full glory, one night, in the bus ride, the mower comes to pick up Dave Williams, who was killed at the age of thirty by a sudden and brutal heart attack. Despite their pain, the band members announced that they were continuing the Drowsing Pool adventure. In 2004 after Robb Flynn (Machine Head) refused to resume the vacant position, Jones arrived. A tattooer, with whom the quartet records Desensitized. The flagship song of the album Step up is then battled everywhere, it appears on the B.O. of The Punisher and becomes the official anthem of Wrestlemania XX. Despite this significant media beat, sales remain below expectations. In early 2005, the collaboration with Jason Jones turned short and a great enmity settled between the remaining members and their former singer. Ryan McCombs, then former singer of Soil, replaced Jones on his feet. Then followed more half-tone years. The Neo scene is no longer what it was a few years ago. The Texans are looking for music and can no longer convince. Full Circle released in 2007 came down by critics. The live album Loudest Common Denominator of 2009 saves a bit of the bet thanks to the resumption of older songs. The eponym released in 2010 suffers the same fate as its predecessors and can only satisfy the most addicted fans. McCombs often pointed out as the main reason for the mediocrity of Drowning Pool decides to leave in 2011 to join Soil. Following the loss of their third frontman, the three women hesitated for a while and decided to continue the adventure. Jasen Moreno, then a member of The Suicide Hook, was recruited. On August 14, 2012, they gave a tribute concert for the ten years of Dave Williams' death where Moreno made a strong impression. However, Resilience released in 2013 still fails to meet fans' expectations. In 2016 released Hallelujah , which received the same reception as previous albums.
