Biography

Editors consists of four members, Tom Smith, Chris Urbanowicz, Russell Leetch and Owen Geraint. Four students having only for one purpose the formation of a common rock band. Before becoming Editors, they formed The Pride, their first band, to which one owes a maxim, past unnoticed. After their drummer, Owen Geraint, and his replacement by Ed Lay, Le quartet opts for a new name, Snowfield. In 2003, the English moved to Birmingham and only wanted to focus on the group. In 2004, they were spotted and signed on Kitchenware Records ( Sirens , Kid Cola ,...); They then decided to change their name one last time and finally baptize themselves Editors.
Things are going on very quickly: their singles Bullets , Munich , and Blood , released in January, April and July 2005, propel them to the front of the English scene. These releases precede the release of their first real album, The Back Room , at the end of July (2005). Mixing rock and cold wave, this first opus is a great success; He placed directly 12th in the English charts the first week of his release, finally reaching 2nd position a week later. The demand of the growing European public prompted their fellow Franz Ferdinand to take them with them, in the first part, on their entire European tour.
Today, the success of their first album, both critical and commercial, is worth a world tour through Japan, Turkey and the USA. Following this tour, they will return to the studios to give a successor to The Back Room.
