Einstürzende Neubauten
Biography
This is a group for which the term "cult" is not used. Founded in 1980 in West Berlin, Einstürzende Neubauten (new buildings that collapse) will literally kick in the anthill of the Industrial and Experimental. The term "Industrial" also goes very well since it is with construction equipment (concrete, hammer, etc.) that they record their first Kollaps album in 1981. It is with the same material that they deliver memorable live performances that make their fame. With Halber Mensch , the band put forward pieces more structured than at the beginning. This album is one of the most famous and admired of the band. The 80's are the most prolific for Neubauten, who has chained no less than five albums in ten years with the same line up. Since that time, discographic outputs have been rarer but remain of quality with Tabula Rasa in 1993 or Ende Neu in 1996. In 2000, the band's music took on a new face with Silence is Sexy. Even though experimentation remains at the heart of the compositions, a side almost pop makes its appearance. The same applies to the following two albums, Perpetum Mobile (2004) and Alles Wieder Offen (2007). Einstürzende Neubauten has nevertheless managed to keep the red thread of quality over the years, making it one of the most respected experimental music groups. In 2014 the Germans made their big return with Lament , a performance based around the First World War.
