
El Libertario
Biography
Created in the mid-1980s in Caracas (Venezuela) by Angel Cappelletti, Spanish veterans and workers' activists, El Libertario is the newspaper of the Libertaire Self-Managing Collective. It appeared during six issues, disappearing before being reborn in 1995 through the Commission of Anarchist Relations, of which it became the broadcasting body. Self-managed, El Libertario is the result of volunteers for whom an anarchist alternative, based on direct democracy, social justice, self-management, self-help is possible. There are regular articles on Latin America, globalization, the environment, feminism, counterculture. Very widespread in Venezuela, it is read in the universities of Caracas, throughout the South American continent but also in Europe. In paper format, El Libertario today draws 2500 copies, living only sales and support operations. It is also available on the newspaper's website.
