Elliott
Biography
Chris Higdon: Song/Guitare Kevin Ratterman: Battery/Clavier Jason Skaggs: Bass Benny Clark: Guitar Elliott was born in Autumn '95 when Jay Palumbo, Empathy bassist, was forced to leave the band because of a move. Destination Louisville, Kentucky. He joined Chris Higdon and Johnathan Mobley, both of whom had just ended their previous adventure: Falling Forward. Elliott recorded a first 7", distinct from the hardcore productions of his former bands ( Falling Forward , Empathy , By The Grace Of God and Sunday Evening Diner Club ), and turned to more melodic music with both rock and emo accents. The contours of Elliott's music are emerging, and Kevin Ratterman, stationed on the drums, joins the rest of the line-up a year later. The quartet then followed the tours on the North American continent, playing alongside bands of various styles (Rock Alternative, Metalcore), to finally be noticed by the Revelation team (Sense Field, Texas Is The Reason). Two recording sessions and US Songs , first combo album, appeared in 1998. From then on, such formations as Fugazi , Quicksand or Radiohead , will become more and more present in Elliott's music , and even if some similarities with Jimmy Eat World's work point, False Cathedrals will mark with its imprint the independent rock scene, making it a masterpiece for many people. Dark, complaining, corrosive, the goal of the quartet is achieved since their unique style is now recognized. Moreover, even though this was the first production of Tobias Miller, Miller had the opportunity to work with artists such as Fiona Apple, The Wallflowers, or Korn. 2000 and 20001 are quick to tour again, including Europe, and in July, Chris and his peers attack their third opus: Song In The Air. On this occasion, they will welcome two new members replacing the previous ones, Benny Clark (Guitare) and Jason Skaggs (Basse). Announced as a short-term EP, the creative process will develop, taking the form that is currently known to it. Song In The Air will also see the participation of a string section instigated by Christian Frederickson (The Rachel). It should be noted that Chris Higdon was able to make an appearance on Three Four ("We Start To Drift") of Shipping News, as well as on the tribute album to Weezer ("The World Has Turned And Left Me Here"). 10 August 2003: the group announces its separation after 8 years of joint effort. Two years later, a posthumous album will emerge, tracing the last two years of post-split tours: Photorecording .
