Eluveitie, which means "I am Swiss" in former Gaulish, was formed in 2002 by Chrigel Glanzmann as a project to play Metal with a Celtic Folk music. The training therefore uses many traditional instruments such as uilleann pipes, Irish flute, bagpipe, old wheel or violin to blend them into the classic instruments of Metal. The song is in several songs from the Helvet Gaulish, used by the ancient Helvetians of the Celtic clans. In 2003 they released their first ep, Vên , which was re-registered the following year by Fear Dark Records. 2004 is also an opportunity to create a real line-up other than the musicians of sessions present on Vên. 2006, Eluveitie reveals itself to the open with Spirit and his Celtic Folk Metal that gives again a whip to the genre. Thanks to its success, the Swiss signed with the Nuclear Blast Records team to release its second opus, Slania , in 2008 which will be followed by a live album: Live @ Metalcamp 2008 , but also marked by the departure for personal reasons of the twins Rafi and Sevan, replaced since by Päde Kistler and Kay Brem. On Evocation I - The Arcane Dominion , Eluveitie turns to a more acoustic style, the first chapter of a second album scheduled for 2010. The same year the Swiss come back to more Folk-Metal compositions with Everything Remains As It Never Was.
