Elvenking

Elvenking is an Italian band from Power / Folk Metal founded in 1997 by guitarists Aydan and Jarpen, soon joined by singer Damna and drummer Zender. They recorded the To Oak Woods Bestowed demo in 2000, allowing them to sign on the German label AFM Records. Soon after, the formation welcomed bassist Gorlan. The first album, Heathenreel , was released in 2001. The following year Elvenking played his first important concerts and recruited the violinist/clavier Elyghen. The writing of the second opus proves to be turbulent since Jarpen leaves temporarily, and when he returns, the singer Damna leaves. He was replaced by Kleid, whose only studio contribution was on Wyrd, which was released in 2004 after a long gestation. A little later, Aydan put pressure on the original singer to return, but when Damna resumes her post, Jarpen throws the sponge. The group provisionally chose to continue in quintet, and after a renewed contract with AFM, The Winter Wake appeared in 2006. In 2007, however, Elvenking felt that he needed a second guitar; The Scythe is recorded with a session guitarist, before Rafahel joins the combo (first as a live musician and then as a full member in 2009). Also in 2007, Elyghen moved to Ireland, and if he was still participating in Two Tragedy Poets in 2008 (which was to be a simple acoustic EP but which the label wanted to extend as a full album), the concerts were performed with a violinist session until the arrival of Letien in 2009. Red Silent Tides , in 2010, was the last album with long-time members Zender and Gorlan, replaced respectively by drummer Symohn and bassist Jakob. Era (2012) and The Pagan Manifesto (2014) followed before the band released its first live recording: The Night Of Nights in 2015. The combo continues to turn and appears in particular at the 2016 Wacken Open Air. In 2017, Marco "Lans" Lanciotti (Hell In The Club , Lione/Conti , who also played with DGM ) became the new drummer. Secrets Of The Magick Grimoire was released in November of the same year, marking the end of the contract with AFM Records. In September 2018, Elvenking announced, in addition to a European tour leading the line, a new contract and a new album, the details of which should be announced shortly.
