Biography

Elysian Fields is a New York band formed in 1990 by a duo composed of singer Jennifer Charles and multi-instrumentalist Oren Bloedow. Their name comes from the paradise which, in Greek mythology, welcomed heroes and poets in the afterlife. At the confluence of Jazz and Folk-Rock, they soon became known to an insider, an amateur of vaporous music. After the release of the ep Star , their first album, Bleed Your Cedar arrived in the bins in 1996 and managed to win the criticism. Subsequently, the duo, now a couple, recorded a second more melancholic album, Queen Of The Meadow, and paid tribute to its Jewish culture by unveiling La Mar Enfortuna , a sephardic music album released in 2001. After a few collaborations, including Jennifer with Dan The Automator and Mike Patton on the Lovage and Oren project with Lou Reed, the band returned in 2003 with Dreams That Breathe Your Name. There is also Jennifer Charles alongside Jean-Louis Murat, a fan of the first hour, on the very retro Pop A Bird On A Poire record, which appeared in 2004. After their separation, the couple again became a duo but recorded Bum Raps&Love Taps in 2005.
