Formed: 1977

Biography

It is perhaps its unlikely origin (daughter of an Italian father and an Icelandic mother) that arouses curiosity while listening to Emiliana Torrini. It is also perhaps, thanks to this simple way of composing, halfway between bare folk walks and electro arrangements - that some would quickly assimilate to trip-hop memories. Not to mention Kylie Minogue, with whom she co-authored "Slow" in 2003. In few albums (+ a few productions reserved for Icelandic territory and appearances in local groups) and with limited and late recognition (2008, Me And Armini or, not, "Gollum's Song" for The Lord of the Rings: The Two Tours in 2002), Emiliana Torrini leads her roadman in his way, disdaining the modes to take his time. If Fisherman's Woman (2005) was the fruit of a single conscience, she was able to surround herself with quality musicians to produce her records, the latest of which was Tookah (2013).
