Biography

Born in the late 1970s of a mother of music and a father of sound engineer, it could not be otherwise, she followed a musical education from high school where she obtained a baccalaureate L with music option and then successively moved to the Conservatoire à radiation régional de Montpellier, to the Sorbonne where she studied musicology and then to IRCAM; She holds a DEA in contemporary music. Today, Emilie Simon is a singer, author, composer and producer who operates in a register ranging from electronic music to pop. It was in February 2003 that his musical career began with the release of his first eponymous album, relatively well received by the critics, there was a cover of I Wanna Be Your Dog des Stooges and a duet with Irish singer Perry Blake on the song Graine d'Etoile . His second opus, which will be released in 2005, is the original soundtrack of the documentary La Marche De L'Empereur (directed by Luc Jacquet), although the lyrics are written in English, when the film is purchased for the US market, distributors ask that the B.O. be completely redesigned (it is Alex Wurman who will take care of it), the latter being at all points inferior to the version of Emilie Simon, many Americans will prefer to obtain the French version of the documentary. From the following year she returns with a new album, Vegetal which, as her name may suggest, plays a great deal on organic, aquatic sounds and natural textures, is like these two predecessors very well received by critics and the public; Note that the first three creations by Emilie Simon were rewarded by Victories of Music in the categories Electronic Music and Original Band, and by a Caesar for Best Music Written for a Film. The same year, The Flower Book will be released a compilation for Canada and the United States. After a much longer break than in the past, Emilie Simon returns in 2009 with a fourth opus studio, The Big machine cuts very clearly with the electro style an experimental tantinet of the damsel to move more towards pop sounds, the young Montpellieran who until then provided virtually alone the services of Mark Plati (David Bowie , Alain Bashung ) to the recording, and surrounds herself with musicians including Jon Natchez (Arcade Fire , Beirut ), The Big Machine was recorded in New York or she recently settled in. Two years passed and 2011 saw the release of Franky Knight , an album paying tribute to his lost companion who found himself also the original soundtrack of La Delicatesse (by Stéphane and David Foenkinos), film addressing the theme of loving mourning, no tour will take place, only one date will be proposed at Salle Pleyel in Paris. Three years will be needed before Emilie Simon talks about her again, with in January 2014 the release of a first single entitled Menteur , announcer of a new mischief, Mue scheduled for March 2014, his title obviously makes thought of a new start, both personal and musical, Mue is bright and juggles while in finesse between pop and electro, moving from feverish walks to more felty titles, then others more twisted.
