Ephel Duath
Biography
Since 1998, when it was formed, the Ephel Duath duo has already wanted to create contrasts, to mix what has no reason to be, and it is quite natural that the two very young members of the group are heading towards an extremely original symphonic metal. Their first demo taped 6 tracks, entitled Opera already attracts eyes and critics naively place them in the box of the symphonic black, next to greats like Emperor or Limbonic Art. At the end of 1999, the band signed its first album, Phormula , a mixture of a very symphonic black metal and a very subtle jazz touch at Code666, a label cherishing the most original and staggered formations compared to the stage. This record really translates the ambition and the group's search for an innovative and original sound. Yet, just after this release, Juliano Mogicato left the band, for both personal reasons and artistic understanding with his partner. He followed a difficult period for training, and Davide Tiso was forced to continue the project which was so dear to him and to look for new motivations. In the summer of 2001, he received proposals from Candlelight Records and Earache Records. A long-term agreement is reached with the second, and it is in the following year that Phormula comes out, embellished with new tracks and for the occasion renamed Rephormula. This makes it possible to discover the group from far less modest horizons than it was, while it can finally emerge from new creations. At this point, Ephel Duath joins those who will make a lot for the sound and quality of the band's performances: Davide Poviesan, a quadrennial drummer with a solid experience in jazz and blues, Fabio Fecchio, bassist touches everything, and Davide Tolomei, a vocal singer with a very busy voice. These three members, all very far from the extreme music, will bring their experience to Tiso and the latest acolyte who joined the Italian band: Luciano Lorusso George, in love with the hardcore-noise scene. This opposition of belongings is truly the key to the music of Ephel Duath, and the first album under this original line-up, The Painter The sequel is only a logical evolution, since the band, despite the departure of Tolomei (the clear voice), continues its experiments and releases at the end of 2005 its third album: Pain Necessary To Know. In 2009, the trio returned with Through My Dog's Eyes , a concept album that revolves around the dog's vision of his master and the world around him.
