Era
Biography
1990, Éric Lévi, who had previously appeared in the Shakin' Street rock band, returned from the United States and began to compose original film tapes, notably by collaborating in 1991 with Jean-Marie Poiré for Operation Corned-Beef (and his title Passion For War / Love). 1993, Carmina Burana inspired the main theme (Enae Volare) of Jean-Marie Poirée's new film: The Visitors. The recipes of this success will prompt him to develop his musical project Era (also stylized +eRa+), mixing mainly Gregorian songs and new age in his first albums. It was in 1996 that the eponymous album, under Mercury, released and concretized the talent of Éric Lévi, who at that time surrounded himself with chorists such as Guy Protheroe, Eric Geisen, Florence Dedam, Murielle Lefebvre and Harriet Jay. While Eric Lévi took care of keyboards, guitar on certain tracks and programming, Lee Sklar (Rob Stewart , Sammy Hagar ) accompanied him to bass, Chester Thompson (Genesis , Santana ) and Neil Wilkinson to drums and Philippe Manca to guitar on the other tracks of the album. 2 million copies are sold simply in France.
Éric Lévi published a remix album in 1999 and then released the cover in 2000 with the Era II suite, which also became a platinum record, and continued the same medieval atmosphere tinted with ambient electro. A first compilation at the end of 2000 was made with the set The Legend , and two years later it was the turn of the third album, The Mass, to release. A new compilation appeared in 2004, the album / DVD The Very Best Of Era, then another compilation in 2007 this time with Prestige.
It is not until 2008 that a new effort by Éric Lévi points the tip of his nose with a musical turn on Reborn. Gregorian songs are abandoned for Arabic songs, on a background of new oriental age too. Exploring other musical horizons, Era released in 2009 the album Classics, whose greatest classical composers ( Vivaldi , Verdi , Bach ) inspired him to accompany their themes on a more modern and electronic music. In 2010 there followed Classics with Classics II and a simple compilation entitled The Essentiel . Era returned 3 years later in collaboration with Arielle Dombasle, for the latest opus.
