Exodus is mainly the story of a man, Gary Holt, who controlled the ship against winds and tides. At the beginning of his career in 1982, Exodus gained his reputation thanks to word of mouth. Concerts during which the band did not spare their time allowed him to win a large audience around the Bay Area. Exodus then consisted of Rick Hunolt (guitar), Rob MacKillop (bass), Paul Baloff (chant) and Tom Hunting (battery). The first album Bonded by Blood was released in 1985 by Torrid Records. A large tour followed with Slayer and Venom. Shortly before the recording of Pleasures of the Flesh, Paul Baloff left the ship, replaced by Steve Souza (ex- Legacy). After a last album by Combat, the band signed up with Capitol Records and shot with the greatest like Pantera, Suicidal Tendencies, Anthrax, Motörhead, Black Sabbath, Metallica. Gradually the thrash scene declines and Exodus falls into oblivion and inactivity. In 1997 the combo reshaped with Baloff singing for a European and American tour and the release of a second live album, Another Lesson in Violence. In 2001, Holt, Hunting, Baloff, Hunolt and Gibson were invited to participate alongside Heathen , Forbidden Evil , Anthrax , Death Angel and Vio-Lence at the Thrash of the Titans in support of Chuck Billy, a cancer-affected Testament frontman. In addition to doing a good thing, this festival is also an opportunity for Exodus to get back to work. But Baloff's premature death in 2002 was a little slowing down. Souza is recalled for the recording of Tempo of the Damned . The album is well received but not enough to encourage its members to pursue the adventure. Just a year later, Souza, Hunolt and Hunting were reverence. It takes more to demotivate Holt. He persuaded Paul Bostaph (ex-Slayer , Forbidden , Testament ) and Lee Altus (Heathen ) to join Exodus. Rob Dukes completes the troop. Exodus managed to release his seventh album Shovel Headed Kill Machine in 2005 and reposition himself on the stage. Tom Hunting's return only confirms the trend.
