Explosions In The Sky
Biography
Explosions in the sky is a texan quartet formed by Munaf Rayani (guitar), Mark Smith (guitar), Michael James (bass) and Chris Hrasky (battery). This depressed and dynamic post rock band is often compared to Mogwai or Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Their first album LP, released in 2000, named How Strange, Innocence , has several hundred copies. They are signed by Temporary Residence Limited (American label of Envy , Miss Violetta Beauregarde , Mono , ...) after half listening to their demo, they can thank the American Analog Set (Austin's drone pop band) for sending the CD. The band signed a few weeks later and released its first album Those who tell the truth will die, that who tell the truth will live forever in 2001 (in August, a rumor is that it was released the week before September 11th, a rumor driven by the phrase "this plane will crash tomorrow" which can be read in the booklet). The Earth is not a cold dead place follows in 2003. We will find them in 2004 on the BO of Friday Night Lights, the year 2005 was marked by the confidential release of an EP This album called The Rescue was indeed composed and recorded in just eight days (one song a day). The band announces a new album for February 2007 composed of 6 tracks ranging from 3 to 30 minutes.
