Biography

Fairure is an American alternative rock band, active from 1990 to 1997, during the period that made the good days of the grunge, in the shadow of much more mediated big brothers like Nirvana , Soundgarden and other royce roll of the time. The band released its first album in 1992, Comfort , produced by Steve Albini , and shared the scene with Tool on his entire American tour; the beginning of a long friendship between the two groups. Adams will come every night, play with them, on the Macaque title. Not very happy with the sound of this first album (Albini though), the band decided to take care of the production of their second album, Magnified , which will be released two years later, in 1994. Although commercially, the first album was a failure, as the audience preferred the stars of the time, the band began to talk about him. More and more groups, artists and critics agree that Californians have something special enough to start a reputation: a sound ahead of their time and very ambitious titles. All this will be confirmed by a much more relevant second album: longer tracks, an original songwriting, and above all, orchestration, arrangements, and crazy sounds for the time. The compositions are for the most part written by the two multi-instrumentalists of the band, Ken Andrews (song, guitars, bass, drums) and Greg Edwards (guitars, bass, drums), which partly explains the complexity, consistency, and, it must be said, the well tempered character of the titles of the band, which will greatly participate in the artistic success of Fairure. The band feels that there is something to do with all this creativity, and decides to release in 1996, which will become one of the best albums of this prolific rock period. One of the most unknown and undervalued as well. Note that at this time, Troy Van Leeuwen (A perfect circle , QOTSA , Eagles of Death Metal among others) will complete the line up and give a pinch for the finalization of the album and the subsequent tour. With Fantastic Planet , always produced, recorded and wiped by the group, Fairure will touch the notoriety with its fingertips ; Stuck On You , Saturday Savior and Pitiful singles receive an encouraging welcome; Stuck On You will even stay on MTV for a while. And then a last single known enough for the road, since it is A Perfect Circle, ten years later, that will make it an interesting cover, remember, a certain "The nurse who loved me"... The album, disappointing as always level recipes, is yet quite incredible between the ears, the tracks are almost all hits for who lingers a little on this particular songwriting, the deep musical interludes, and the wealth and density completely crazy for such a band. However, this new failure of Fauriere (!) will sign the final stop of the band, which officially separates for musical differences. They will leave behind them three wonderful albums, witness to a hallucinating creativity, often hailed by critics and the artistic community, but little of the audience. Andrews will return to the stage a few years later with ON, a rather electro solo project, and Year of The Rabbit in 2002, his real return to a classical rock band. But the old Faillure front-man is best known for his production/mixing work, which will make him start a very prolific producer career, with on the counter collaborations with A perfect Circle, Beck, Nine Inch Nails, Pete Yorn, Paramore, Candlebox, Tenacious D or Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Chris Cornell. In 2004, although inactive for several years, Andrews and Edwards met and released Golden, a compilation of B-Sides, bonuses, demos and other frailties, as well as a live and documentary about the band. At the end of 2013, against all expectations, the band reshaped with its original line-up, giving a series of concerts in the United States, and opened, as usual, for Tool during his tour, and then began working on his fourth album, The Heart Is A Monster , which will be released at the end of June 2015.
