Faith No More
Biography
In 1981, in San Francisco, Faith No Man was formed. After many changes in line-up (including Courtney Love singing), the band was renamed Faith No More , mainly around Chuck Mosley (sing) and Jim Martin (guitar). After an EP in 84, the band released We Care A Lot in 85, followed in 87 by Introduction Yourself . The band receives a positive welcome from the public, while the funk metal wave is at its top, with bands like Fishbone. But the band has to separate from Mosley, whose alcoholism and drug addiction are growing so much that they are falling asleep on stage. The band therefore includes a new singer from an unknown death metal band, Mr Bungle. This singer is Mike Patton, and he will radically change the future of the band and the music of the 90's. The new formation was released in 1989 The Real Thing, composed in two weeks. The funk/metal/rap mix is so effective that the album is immediately propelled to the top of the charts. But the following albums, notably Angel Dust , King For A Day... Fool For A Lifetime and finally Album Of The Year although excellent, are not as well received by the public and are considered too experimental. The band split up in 1998, and Mike Patton began his incredible list of solo projects. Current 2008, rumors are going well, but we must wait until early 2009 to have a realization of Faith No More's revival. The band will tour and start playing new tracks in London in 2012, including the single Motherfucker, which will finally be released in 7" at the end of 2014, accompanied by an official confirmation of the release of a seventh album after 18 years of absence from discography, and a concert at the Amoeba record store to celebrate. Sol Invictus is finally released on May 18, 2015 simultaneously on Claim! Recordings (mounted for the occasion) and Ipecac.
