Falconer

Falconer is a folk/power metal band founded in Sweden in 1999 by guitarist Stefan Weinerhall (ex- Mithotyn). He surrounds himself for the occasion of singer/clavier Mathias Blad and drummer Karsten Larsson (also a former Mithotyn). After a demo and a signature at Metal Blade Records, it was in the form of a trio that the first two albums were released, an eponymous in 2001 and then Chapters From A Vale Forlorn the following year. Shortly thereafter, Mathias Blad was unable to shoot with the band, leaving the adventure. The singer Kristoffer Göbel (ex- Destiny), guitarist Anders Johansson and bassist Peder Johansson were recruited. The concept-album The Sceptre Of Deception is recorded with this line-up, but tensions soon appear and the two Johansson (non-relative) are ejected and replaced by Magnus Linhardt (bass) and Jimmy Hedlund (guitar). Grime Vs. Grandeur was released in 2005, sometimes considered with his predecessor as the two worst albums of Falconer. Göbel was soon left behind while the original singer Mathias Blad returned; The line-up hasn't moved since. Northwind , in 2006, marks a return to the sources that will not be denied by Ammon Beggars And Thieves two years later. Armod appeared in 2011 as an exception in discography by being sung entirely in Swedish, an example that will not follow Black Moon Rising in 2014. In September of the same year, the group announced that it would cease performing with their last performance at the PowerProg 2015. Falconer became an exclusively studio project. However, it is necessary to wait until the end of 2017 for the writing of a new opus to be announced, with an estimated release in 2019.
