Far
Biography
The story of Far begins in 1992 in the city of Sacramento. Like many formations, it was during the "high school years" that Jonah Matranga, Shaun Lopez, John Gutenberger and Chris Robyn decided to set up a band. For the next two years, Far would ecumen the rooms of the Californian region in order to build a solid reputation. This will be done, especially with their friends of the Deftones or Will Haven, emerging groups themselves during the same period. It was in 1994 that their first album, entitled Quick , was released, which will be a comfortable success at the local level, arriving even on the Immortal Records offices. Now enjoying institutional support, their first real Tin Cans With Strings To You album will be released in 1996. But it is only two years later with Water And Solutions that the group will gain international recognition. The album was conceived and recorded in pain, however, because of the four strong personalities who each had a precise vision of Far's music. This was the final reason for the group in 1999. Since then, Jonah Matranga has gained the place we know him within the emo/rock scene with the projects that are OneLineDrawing, New End Original (in company of ex- Texas Is The Reason), or more recently Gratitude. But he is also recognized by his peers, as evidenced by the numerous appearances or contributions made on Deftones titles, or Thursday. Shaun Lopez will start on his side The Revolution Smile, a power pop band that some have seen on stage in France in the first part of Korn. As for Chris and John, they will form the Milwaukee band. Their respective successes will unfortunately be minimal in comparison to the talent of songwriter unanimously recognized in Matranga. After a twelve-year hiatus, Far reformed to perform a few concerts under the name Hot Little Pony . The group also created a Myspace page with the title "Pony" of Ginuwine . Facing the enthusiasm generated by this reformation, Far decided to record a new album and then signed with Vagrant Records in March 2009. At Night We Live , the band's third album, produced by guitarist Shaun Lopez, was released in May 2010.
