Feist
Biography
At 31, Canadian Leslie Feist had a small career as a punk singer with Placebo combo (nothing of course to see) behind her, leaving her vocal cords seriously damaged after five years. Forced to take a break, she moved to Toronto and began playing the scratch in 1998, which led her to record her first solo album Monarch (Lay Down Your Jeweled Head), which was broadcast confidentially in 2000. At the same time, she was a roommate of electro Peaches and Gonzales, and collaborated with Broken Social Scene. She then moved to Paris, which soon adopted it in the following years. She recorded Let It Die , her second solo album between jazz and indie rock, in 2002 and 2003, for a release in 2004. We discover artists like Mocky and Jamie Lidell around her. Feist also continues the collaborations: two songs co-written on the second album of the Kings of Convenience ( Riot on an Empty Street ), The Simple Story written for and sung with Jane Birkin on the album Rendez-vous produced by Gonzales and Renaud Letang, as well as very francophile duos with Albin de la Simone or Arthur H . In 2006 the album Open Season remixes followed. Then in 2007, back in shape with a third album titled The Reminder .
