Flipper was founded in 1979 in San Francisco by Ted Falconi, Will Shatter, Steve DePace and Ricky Williams, all from local punk groups such as Rad Command, Negative Trend, Sleepers. Ricky Williams was fired after six months, his only act of weapon having been to put KO Shatter by a microphone blow in a first part of X. He left to the remaining members some memorable memories as well as the name Flipper , a name which he invariably gave his pets. He was replaced by Bruce Loose who sang on the band's first recording. Flipper remained under this line-up until Shatter died in 1987. During this period the band released three singles and five albums. In 1990, Californians reformed with a new bassist, John Dougherty. With him is recorded the album American Grafishy that is released at Def Jam. Flipper splint after John Dougherty's death. The separation will last ten years. The legendary Californian band finds themselves at the CBGB support concerts in August 2005 with an old friend at bass Bruno DeSmartass (Bad Posture). After Bruno's departure, Flipper made some festivals with former bassist Nirvana, Krist Novoselic (Nirvana) and even recorded a new album, Love. Before going on tour, Novoselic gave up, replaced by Rachel Thoele (ex- Frithwig).
