Floor
Biography
The band Floor formed in 1992 in Miami, Florida around Steve Brooks and Anthony Vialon with guitars and singing, as well as Betty Monteavaro with drums. Having not yet found a bassist it is Anthony Vialon who takes charge of the bass. The band often changed line-up, notably drummer and recorded in 1993 lsep Heather. That same year, Anthony Vialon, the only permanent member with Steve Brooks, was recruited by Cavity , a mythical sludge band from Miami and became a permanent member. Despite this turning point, Floor recorded four eps in 1994. The sound of Floor is quite special, a very heavy and dense sludge, which contrasts with the sludging of the masters of EyeHateGod who do not have such a monolithic sound, reinforced by abyssal voices. After a split with the Sloth cults in 1995, the group split up the following year. A lighting reformation took place in 1997 for a concert, with a new drummer, Henry Wilson. In 2001, the band reworked seriously with Steve Brooks and Anthony Vialon on guitars and Henry Wilson on drums. Vialon's presence is difficult because he left Cavity shortly before moving to Switzerland. They still record a split with Dove, the other band from Henry Wilson who plays a Sludge similar to Floor but besides Punk Hardcore. In 2002, after recruiting Drew Demaio to bass, Floor released his first album of the same name. This first album reveals a totally original sound. At their Sludge, the band perfectly integrated a clear song delivered by Brooks that wanders to the limit of pop, singing accompanied by some melodic passages. Shortly afterwards, Anthony Vialon left the band permanently. He was replaced by Juan Montoya. But the end of the group is near. In 2004, a second album was released, composed of old Floor songs from EPs and some unrecorded. Then the band splits permanently. Steve Brooks and Juan Montoya perpetuate the sound of Floor's first album in their new band, Torche, while Henry Wilson is now totally dedicated to Dove.
