Forest Of Shadows
Biography
Forest Of Shadows is a one-man-band behind which Niclas Frohagen hides. His project was born in Sweden in 1997 without any particular ambition. However, he has to resign himself since after the release of two demos entitled The Silent Cry and Under The Dying Sun in 1998, Micce Anderson joined him with the idea of making Forest Of Shadows a larger band. A promo record was released the following year, making it a re-record of the first demo with a cover of Katatonia , Rainroom , and received a very favourable reception within the Doom sphere, even going so far as to appear in the first place of the charts of the online download sites for two months. Martin Claesson then joined the band, which discovered the desire for concerts. Unfortunately, this is the beginning of a chain of countless galleys. The band decided, after two inconclusive concerts, to focus on the writing of an EP which will be called Where Dreams Turn To Dust, but Martin decided to leave the band before entering the studio, then the label supposed to release the record suddenly had no money to devote to it. Paradoxically, while the tracks available on the web continue to gain popularity, no label deigns to sign the band for whom any hope of releasing its record one day fades. Fortunately, the Rage of Achilles label comes out of nowhere, giving the band the opportunity to take out the ep, which will finally be done at the end of 2001. The formation then begins recording a first album, but all the problems encountered during recording the ep having strongly affected the motivation of the members, the production of the record will take a crazy time. In addition, Current 2002, Frohagen decided to terminate his collaboration with Anderson and undertook to complete the production of the record alone. He will succeed after two difficult years, where in addition to the hard work he provides to complete production, Rage of Achilles goes bankrupt and disappears. However, luck finally reached him as Firebox Records signed him and finally released the album at the end of 2004. Departure is the last release of the "group", which seems to be in stand-by ever since. Note that Forhagen is also a member of the French-Swedish duo Ningizzia .
