Formed in Nashville (Te) in 1997, then relocated to Portland, From Ashes Rise is part of the crust/d-beat movement that spreads over the States at the end of the last century. Composed of Brat Boatright, Billy Davis, both of Deathreat's elders, Dave Atchison and John Wilkerson, the band recorded two first 7 inches, Fragments of a Fallen Sky and Life & Death, now exhausted. Although Feral Ward gave him the opportunity to move to higher speed by editing Concrete & Steel and Silence, two 12 inches respectively released in 2000 and 2001, the signature at Jade Tree ( Paint It Black , Kid Dynamite , Young Widows ) in 2003 offered the combo the opportunity to work in other conditions. Under the direction of Matt Bayles (Planes Mistaken For Stars , Isis , These Arms Are Snakes ), From Ashes Rise recorded Nightmares which turned out to be the ultimate production of the band. The album under the arm, the band then embarks for a series of concerts in Europe. A year later, a tour was organized with the Subhumans, without Billy Davis leaving in the meantime to join Tragedy, after which From Ashes Rise split up. The Portland group then bursts in several directions. Derek Wilman, a replacement for Davis, is now a member of Coldbringer alongside John Wilkerson, Dave Atchison is a drummer for Smoke Or Fire and Brad Boatright plays in Warcry.
